Cooperative Virtual Power Plant Formation Using Scoring Rules

Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) are fast emerging as a suitable means of integrating small and distributed energy resources (DERs), like wind solar, into the electricity supply network (Grid). VPPs formed via aggregation large number such DERs, so that they exhibit characteristics traditional generator in terms predictability robustness. In this work, we promote formation "cooperative'' (CVPPs) using multi-agent technology. particular, design payment mechanism encourages DERs to join CVPPs with overall production. Our method is based on strictly proper scoring rules incentivises provision accurate predictions from CVPPs---and turn, member DERs---which aids planning schedule at Grid. We empirically evaluate our approach real-world setting 16 commercial farms UK. show real form CVPPs, outperforms current state art developed for problem.
